Haulier bolsters MAN fleet for Crossrail project

Tractor Units
Billericay-based haulier TJ Hammond Transport has added five new MANs to its fleet. Four TGX 26.440 6x2 tractors and a TGL 8.180 7.5-tonner will be used to service the company's contract on London's Crossrail project.
The vehicles were supplied by dealer PCL. Additional safety specifications include audible warnings for reversing and left-turns, a blind-spot indicator for drivers, front- and rear-facing cameras. The tractor units have also been equipped with fridges and microwave ovens. "Our first MAN in 1998 was a used 7.5-tonner and we bought our first new [new MAN vehicles] in 2003," comments Terry Hammond, managing director of TJ Hammond. "As is typical of German motor manufacture, the MANs are built to the highest standard. They are reliable, efficient and our drivers wouldn't settle for anything less," he adds. TJ Hammond's fleet now comprises 18 MAN trucks, most having been funded on lease packages through MAN Financial Services.
