Compared to skiploaders with conventional, lever-operated controls, the TRR is "safer, easier, faster and more productive", says Bill Cox, Powerdays's transport manager.
Powerday's first two Hyva TRR skiploaders have been fitted to 250bhp, 18-tonne gvw DAF LF chassis. A third unit, on a Volvo, is due to enter service soon.
With Hyva's crane-based remote control technology, the driver no longer has to stay in one position, and can view the loading and unloading of the skip from anywhere around the truck.
The electronic control system increases the speed of the skiploader's operating functions, such as lowering the rear legs or extending the reach of the arms.
Thanks to this, adds Cox, "Hyva's new electronically controlled skiploaders … offer us the potential to handle an extra skip per truck per day". He also anticipates cost savings from fewer accidents.
