Transport industry pioneer Will Whitehorn is now chairman of the new Transport Systems Catapult – the Technology Strategy Board's technology and innovation centre focusing on innovation across national transport systems.

Ford of Britain chairman Joe Greenwell CBE – who was also president of the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) in 2009 and 2010 – is to retire at the end of April 2013. Mark Ovenden, currently managing director, will add the chairman's role to his responsibilities.

Stagecoach Group has announced the appointment of Gregor Alexander, finance director of SSE, as a non-executive director of the company.

Chris Insley, workshop foreman at East Midlands Mercedes-Benz trucks and vans dealer Mertrux, has notched up 45 years' service with the company, having been there since the day it opened.

Andreas Renschler has taken over responsibility for production and purchasing at Mercedes-Benz cars and vans, while Dr Wolfgang Bernhard is now looking after Daimler Trucks. Meanwhile, the Daimler board has also extended the contracts of Dr Dieter Zetsche and Prof Dr Thomas Weber.

Martin Saint is the new managing director at tail lifts specialist DEL Equipment (UK) – part of the Hiab division of Cargotec.

Masternaut has boosted its R&D team by appointing Nicola Consolati as head of R&D operations, and Simon Wavish, head of custom systems. Joining Masternaut from TomTom and Accenture, respectively, both report to Masternaut's chief technology officer Alex Rothwell.

Dr Gabriele Bosselmann has assumed the newly created position of HR director for Europe at Giti Tire. Bosselmann will join the EU leadership team and play a key role in the development of business plans.
