GreenRoad Fleet Elite proves safety and efficiency impact13 March 2015

Driver-performance management systems specialist Greenroad says that almost 6,000 UK professional drivers achieved its coveted Fleet Elite status for 2014 – an increase of 33% compared to 2013.

Dougie Portwood, head of Greenroad's change management team, says the percentage of drivers achieving perfect GreenRoad safety scores grew even more rapidly.

That, he says, demonstrates the effectiveness of the GreenRoad driver behaviour and fleet performance solution in helping drivers develop and maintain safe, fuel-efficient behaviour.

"Drivers wear their Fleet Elite badges with pride and work hard to maintain their eligibility for Fleet Elite membership ... to reach gold and silver levels," states Portwood.

"Fleet managers confirm that the programme has had a significant positive impact on driver safety and performance," he says, adding that they also confirm its impact in reducing operating costs.

The percentage of drivers who achieved Fleet Elite status grew from 6.8% of GreenRoad drivers in 2013 to almost 9% in 2014.

132 drivers completed 2014 with a perfect GreenRoad safety score, 43% more than in 2013, while almost 720 drivers had near-perfect scores, indicating an average of just one risky manoeuvre per 100 hours driving.

Designed to motivate drivers and reward safe driving practices, Fleet Elite status is awarded to drivers who maintain a GreenRoad safety score of five or less while logging over 500 driving hours during the calendar year.
