Plant hire operator picks Andover for compact Cornish fit09 March 2015

Highway Plant Hire has added a new MAN TGM rigid to its fleet, fitted with a compact plant body from Andover Trailers to suit its plant deliveries to sites around Cornwall.

At 6.15m long, the LPPB18 plant body is mounted to an 18-tonne MAN TGM 4x2 rigid and can carry loads of up to 9.4 tonnes.

The bespoke body has a double crank beavertail with a pair of 2.5m long hydraulic power toe ramps, plus a Ramsey hydraulic winch mounted in the headboard, and seven pairs of lashing points.

Ian Powell, director at Redruth-based Highway Plant Hire, says the vehicle is enabling the business to reach customers in isolated areas: "The new plant body helps us to achieve excellent vehicle manoeuvrability without sacrificing payload capacity.

"We know from experience that the bodies Andover manufactures will outlast the vehicles they are mounted to."
