Shortlist announced for the 2015 Low Carbon Champions Awards04 August 2015

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) has revealed the shortlist for the 2015 Low Carbon Champions Awards. The nominees include organisations as diverse as Nissan, Optare, Scania, Dearman Engine and Dundee City Council.

The awards, now in their fifth year, will be presented at an awards dinner on 9 September in Milton Keynes, as part of the two-day Low Carbon Vehicle event, organised by Cenex.

Those making it through to the final include: Mitsubishi, Nissan and Volkswagen for the low carbon car/van manufacturer prize; BYD Europe, Optare, Leyland Trucks and Scania for the heavy duty vehicle manufacturer category; Dundee City Council, First Bus with City of York and Reading Buses for the operator of the year; and Avid Technology, Wirth Research, Ashwoods and Dearman Engine Co for the SME low carbon innovation category.

Dearman's nomination is for its zero-emission transport refrigeration system, which is currently undergoing on-vehicle tests and will undergo commercial trials later this year.

Toby Peters, Dearman's CEO, describes the nomination as "a great achievement", adding: "The potential for Dearman's zero-emission transport refrigeration system to have a positive environmental impact is significant, and we are making rapid progress in bringing it to market."

The awards are accredited by the Royal Society of the Arts, which means each category winner progresses to the European Business Awards for the Environment.

The Grand Prix sponsor of the 2015 Low Carbon Champions Awards is Millbrook, host of the LCV event.
