Unusual lift designs help Transdek win Queen’s Award 27 April 2012

Yorkshire-based loading equipment manufacturer Transdek has received a Queen's Award for Enterprise in Innovation this year for its groundbreaking truck loading systems.

The award recognises the company's innovation in the production and installation of modular hydraulic lifts to service double-deck trailers, which carry up to 67% more product than conventional HGVs.

The lifts have enabled transport operators to make large cost and environmental savings, with one of the UK's largest supermarkets chains alone claiming a reduction of 12 million road miles travelled in 2010.

"It's great news that our policy of continued investment in developing lifting solutions that can deliver substantial cost savings, environmental improvements and operational benefits has been recognised with a Queen's Award for Enterprise in Innovation," says Mark Adams, managing director of Transdek.

"Over the last 15 years we have used our expertise and commercial experience together with extensive research and development, and patenting of the resulting intellectual property, to establish Transdek as a market leading innovator," he adds.

"It also puts us in a strong position to capitalise on the significant growth opportunities that exist."
